My Word

My greatest passion in life, after my amazing children, is time spent writing. I’ve been a Webby-nominated blogger, magazine writer (13+ pubs), head writer (e.g. Getty Images), brand writer on social  (e.g. Church’s Chicken), copywriter for hip hop clothing (Rocawear, Ecko), copywriter for many startups, and a script and storyboard writer for brand documentaries including for Comcast NBCU and Beyond Meat. I’ve written music marketing newsletters in the genres of rock, hip hop, and pop. I write a lot about branding, content, and marketing leadership on LinkedIn these days and now I have a column on Inc. magazine which I go into detail about below.

In 2022, I was asked to join Inc.com as a columnist. With a monthly reach of over 25 million readers, Inc. is one of the top resources for growing startups and founders. In my Meaningful Marketing” column, I write about strategic and authentic marketing, branding, and content while exploring visionary business practices and creative ideas. The first four are:

  1. 3 Data-Driven Marketing Ideas to Boost Performance: How to connect, get lift, and build staying power

  2. Plot Devices to Strengthen Your Brand and Supercharge Your Content Strategy

  3. How Being Vulnerable Can Accelerate Growth

  4. Tips For Brand Story from Five Years of Conversations with Business Leaders

Our Home

The industrial neighborhood we call home emerged from its rural beginnings as tributary-fed farmlands on the banks of the East River to what it is today.

Owner and brewmaster Daniel Acosta saw this as the perfect spot to pay homage to the European amber wheat fields and fertile marshlands of Northern Europe – which are at the heart of the centuries-old brewing traditions that spawned his passion for beer.

Our Mission

From the science of isolating a single strand of yeast to the art of layering the perfect black and tan, we are committed to the time, expense and energy it takes to get things right.  We use modern technology to improve upon the past while letting our thirst and curiosity for innovation drive us toward the future.

Read by Beyond Meat CEO Ethan Brown:

(birds) I think where we start is the recognition that meat is central to how we evolved as a species. We were able to tap into this supercharged food source which is meat off the bone.

Since the beginning of recorded history, the assumption has been that we need an animal to create this delicious wonderful essential meat. But that’s changing.

At Beyond Meat we’re bypassing the animal altogether and sourcing meat’s core parts–protein, fats, trace minerals, trace carbohydrates– directly from the plant kingdom and making a new but entirely natural and simply put together meat.

It’s my belief in the coming years, we will generate meat from fields of protein–such as the fields of peas you see here–versus just pastures and feed lots. And that’s an exciting future. It’s a future of better health, of efficiency and innovation for the American farmer, and a lighter

We’re a family company founded in the seventies. Like all kids, we grew up riding bikes around our Miami neighborhood. To the pool. To play in someone’s yard. To the beach. Bikes were part of our daily lives. We probably took it for granted. It was the family business after all. In fact, it was a business we fell into. But soon it surrounded our whole lives. And our love grew.

We developed Sun Bikes inspired by the colors, shapes, and geometry of the Miami skies and the leisurely bike ride that defines the sunshine lifestyle. We work in a small team: a designer who grew up working in bike shops and taught himself design; a close-knit sales team; and our relationships with bike shops that we’ve been working with for over 20 years as well as all the new shops get to know along the way. Whether with our found family or our real families, its all family to us. That’s what we’re about and that’s what we’ll always be about. From our families to yours.

On Medium, I have written business advice like The Single Time Management Trick That Worked For Me to relationship advice such as How To Finally Choose Yourself After Choosing Losers published in “The Startup”. I’ve written about culture as in this piece reflecting on 9/11 twenty years later and very personal essays like this one on the death of my dear father.

I also have a creative writing project on Instagram where I am starting to share my fiction called Creative Girls Guide.

This is all from 2020 onward. Enjoy!
